Today we attended a performance of “Charlotte’s Web” at Theatre for Young America at Union Station. This live performance was a wonderful retelling of the now classic story, with a dash of humor and a whole lot of audience participation to make it fresh. Younger kids especially enjoyed joining in with their animal noises as well as the exciting chase that followed Wilbur’s escape from his pen (which came straight through the audience), plus the county fair hucksters added some realism to the show. The ending was touching without being cloying, and while sad, it did not overwhelm the sense of fun in the rest of the show. A big thanks to TYA for a great performance and an enjoyable morning!
