Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! at JCCC

On Thursday we went to the Carlsen Center at JCCC for the fresh from the Kennedy Center performance of “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” by Mo Willems. This adorable performance was based on the first book in the beloved series, with a few bits pulled from the other Pigeon books. The show went back to Willems’ roots on Sesame Street with puppeteers and actors interacting on stage. The puppeteer for the Pigeon was especially talented – he animated Pigeon in such a way that you barely noticed him behind the puppet! The infamous bus was on stage, as was Pigeon’s frenemy Duckling, the bus driver, and a collection of supporting characters that moved the story (and the bus!) along. The music was great, the acting and puppetry work was excellent, and the whole show was a fun time for kids and parents alike.

Many thanks to JCCC and the Kennedy Center for bringing this wonderful show to Johnson county!
