This Wednesday we attended “Miss Nelson Is Missing” presented by students from Avila University on the Theatre for Young America stage. The script is based on the first book in the “Miss Nelson” series by Allard. This book is a favorite with many kids for the fun story, the scary but not too scary substitute teacher, and the surprise twist at the end of the book.
The actors did a great job in their roles, especially the actor who played Miss Nelson/Viola Swamp. The kids were impressed with how well she played both parts, and how easily she switched between the two roles. The actor who played the janitor, the police officer, and the principal also did a great job moving between their roles. The actors who played Miss Nelson’s students got quite a few laughs from the audience for their antics. Overall, it was a fun show and the collaboration between Avila and TYA was well done.
We had a great time at the show, and look forward to the rest of the season!
