Today was Homeschool Day at Nelson-Atkins, and it was one of the best yet! The kids toured the museum and learned about three different types of art, built with wooden Keva planks, made screen-printed art as well as their own pinch pot to take home, watched pottery made on a wheel, and even signed a wheel-thrown bowl made at homeschool day!
As always, the homeschool day was staffed by the museum’s wonderful volunteers and museum employees. Everyone involved did such a nice job of working with the kids, helping and guiding them as needed, and encouraging the kids to build, create and explore. A special thanks to Red Star Studios for their informative wheel throwing demonstration, and their monthly wheel throwing class for homeschoolers. And a big thanks to the museum staff for putting together another great homeschool day – our families are looking forward to the next one!
