***ATTENTION: EVENT HAS A NEW START TIME AND LATER RSVP DEADLINE***
Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm offers a unique hands on experience for visitors of all ages focusing on 1860s farming, frontier life and stagecoach travel while preserving the nationally significant Mahaffie Story. Mahaffie is the last remaining stagecoach stop open to the public on the Santa Fe Trail.
This year’s Winter Home School Day will be on Friday, February 21. Activities may include cookstove and blacksmith demonstrations, sawing wood and a horse drawn hay wagon ride (weather and ground conditions permitting). Home School Families are invited to enjoy the activities at their own pace. The grounds are not paved, and families will be walking between buildings.
We will be attending the 11am-3pm session. Cost is $5/student, accompanying adults are free. Please register and pay via Paypal by February 12 to attend with the JoCoHomeschool group. When registering, please identify the number of paying school age children, adults, and non-school age children so we have an accurate headcount for Mahaffie.
Please plan to arrive at 10:45 – parking is limited close to the Heritage Center. After parking in the lot of the Heritage Center, head in to check in with Carrie from JoCoHomeschool and pick up your map.
