Exchange City is hosting a homeschool day on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. This is an exciting opportunity for the kids to experience hands on learning in a fun new environment!

Exchange City offers a very busy day as we learn everything it takes to start and keep a business running. At the beginning of the day we have to get our loans approved by Arvest Bank and then go to Public Works to get a business license. We must get ready for the city to open with a speech from our Mayor and Judge. After the ribbon cutting, the city is open for business! Student citizens must learn what they need to do to get more business, sometimes it means making more products and sometimes it is learning the best way to advertise. By the end of the day we learn why our parents are so tired after work!

EarthWorks is a laboratory that comes to life. At our 35,000 sq. foot laboratory, second through fourth grade students discover a love of nature and the environment as they walk through each of our five habitats. With live animals in each habitat, they get hands-on experience to study creatures native to Missouri habitats and determine if they have what they need to survive. Students become scientists to not only discover what each habitat is like, but to determine if the habitat has what it needs to sustain life.

JoCo Homeschool will be organizing a group to attend. EarthWorks is geared towards students in 2nd-4th grade. Exchange City is for students in 4th-7th grade. Cost for this event is $20/child. Once enrolled, you will receive their six-week curriculum to help you get ready for the homeschool day.

The program runs from 9:30-2:30 and with a 30-minute break for lunch. TLE encourages educators and parents to attend and assist – the format works best with adult volunteers.
