The entire Kansas City Zoo will stay open from 4-8pm exclusively for Friends of the Zoo (FOTZ) members.

To add to your exclusive evening there will be entertainment, concession stand specials, and fun for the kids. We will have a special guest speaker. Michael Macek is a Bird Curator at the St. Louis Zoo and leader of the Humboldt Penguin Project in Punta San Juan, Peru. He will be speaking at 4:00pm and 6:30pm on the Lobby Auditorium.

Zoo Keepers will be on hand for special Keeper Chats.

The Lorikeet Aviary will also be open with feedings at 5, 6, & 7pm

We will have The Astronomical Society of Kansas City and Powell Observatory in Africa from 4-8pm.
A caricature artist will be drawing commemorative illustrations of our guests from 3 to 7pm. We will also have face painting and chalk art for the kids and a DJ playing tunes at Discovery Barn.

FOTZ members will receive complimentary rides on the tram, train, carousel, camels, boat and Sky Safari during this event.

The Jerry Cohen FOTZ Picnic tasty buffet provided by Brancato’s Catering from 5 – 7 pm includes: Slow Cooked Beef Brisket Fresh From Our Smokehouse; baked chicken (baked to perfection), au jus (on side), Brancato’s own BBQ sauce (on side), smoked BBQ baked beans, home style potato salad, assorted gourmet cookies, iced tea, lemonade, and ice water. (vegetarian bow tie pasta available, please note when ordering). $13 for adults ages 12 and above; $10 for children ages 3-11. Reservations are required; your reservation confirmation will be your tickets, please bring this with you to the event and show at the Tropics Tent.
