Ms. Gloria talking with the kids about art from the permanent collection

Today we kept cool in the summer heat with a docent-led tour at the Kemper Museum. Our wonderful docent, Gloria, led our families through the current exhibitions, A Whisper of Where It Came From and Deconstructing Robert Mangold, as well as pieces from the permanent collection in the Cut and Paste and Connecting Chaos exhibitions. We also stepped outside (albeit briefly) to discuss the Louise Bourgeois spiders on the exterior of the building.

Gloria did a great job of engaging the kids, especially since we had a variety of ages on today’s tour. She shared all kinds of information about the art, how the artists created their pieces, and how the pieces were similar or different from each other. She also got the kids talking about the art, including thinking about which pieces they would like to own, which kept the kids’ interest as we toured.

Many thanks to Ms. Gloria for a great tour, and to the Kemper education department as well! We enjoyed our tour today and look forward to future visits!
