Central Resource Library
9875 W. 87th St
Overland Park, KS

Join us for a book club just for girls! We will be reading old favorites, new favorites, and sharing books that we are enjoying. This book club is for girls ages 5-12, whether they are reading on their own, listening to audiobooks or being read to by a parent.

Our January 2014 book club selection is “Caddie Woodlawn” by Carol Ryrie Brink. If you liked the Laura Ingalls Wilder books, you will enjoy “Caddie Woodlawn”. Traveling with her family from Boston to Wisconsin in the 1860s, Caddie grew into a spunky, independent young girl whose adventures were both humorous and hair-raising. She was brave, strong, loving, and the stories of her life are so much fun to read! This book gives a great insight to the pioneer experience during the Civil War. The book is based on stories told by Caddie to her granddaughter, Carol Rylie Brink.

The Book Club Girls will meet in the children’s section of the Central Resource Library, by the windows. Come ready to discuss the book! We will also have a little time to share other books we are reading, so bring a book to share with the book club.

Younger siblings might enjoy the toy and train tables available, and of course the library stacks are open for perusing.

Please include the names and ages of each girl you register.
