

Where in the metro can you go on a horse-drawn hayride, taste fresh maple syrup, work with a real blacksmith, and play some pioneer games? On homeschool day at Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm.
For those who don’t know about Mahaffie, it is the last stagecoach stop on the Oregon Trail that is still open to the public. They offer hayrides, stagecoach rides, and sleigh rides dependent on season and weather, as well as a variety of indoor and seasonal outdoor activities.
Even the work is fun here as the kids knead bread and make biscuits, help churn butter, make soap, and practice shucking corn. These activities and more give kids the opportunity to experience running a stagecoach stop and farm in the 1860s.
