On Wednesday we went to Shatto Dairy to learn more about our local dairy, to meet some of the cows, and to try some delicious samples too! We sampled several different kinds of flavored milk, from the more traditional flavors like chocolate and strawberry to more unique flavors like banana, coffee and root beer. We watched a demonstration of how the glass bottles are filled. We also visited the milking barn and watched the cows be milked. The kids took turns trying to milk a cow by hand, and had a great time meeting some of the newest calves, including a set of twins. After our tour we sampled some of the butters and cheese, as well as some of the jams and preserves stocked by the store.
