Our February meeting was a busy one, with all kinds of great creations made by the kids. We started with a mini build based off February holidays, such as Valentine’s Day, Presidents’ Day, Mardi Gras, Chinese New Year, Wild Bird Month, Pancake Day, Engineers’ Week and Grand Canyon Day. Then riffing off the theme of love, we talked about how some famous buildings, such as the Taj Mahal, are monuments to love. The kids were divided into groups and challenged to build a famous monument, either human made or nature made. They made some *amazing* builds!
Here is some of what the kids built during our meeting:
Heart for Valentine’s Day, people, bushes and a smiley face
A fox with a sapling, a pond with a frog and a waterfall
Freeze taco army with commander
Bedroom of the princess of hearts
A tree nest with mama bird and baby bird
Completed Monuments
Washington Monument
Empire State Building and Eiffel Tower
Chinese New Year fireworks in front of the Jade Palace
We had a great time building our monuments. Happy building!
