Johnson County Park and Recreation
JCPRD is offering a series of art classes for homeschoolers, as well as a nature program at Ernie Miller geared towards homeschooling families. Contact JCPRD at 913-831-3355 with questions or to register.
Blue Valley Recreation
Blue Valley Rec is offering classes for homeschoolers for spring 2016 – two art classes, one cooking class, and one babysitting class. For more details, search the online catalog with the keyword “homeschool” or contact Blue Valley Rec directly at 913-685-6000.
Schlagle Library Science Adventures
Schlagle Library and Environmental Learning Center is one of only two public library environmental learning centers in the United States. They provide homeschool programs on specific weekdays and public programs on weekends for low or no cost. You can learn more about Schagle’s programs by clicking here.
Prairie Park Nature Center in Lawrence
Prairie Park Nature Center in Lawrence offers homeschool field trips for kids ages 6 to 13. Time: 10AM-12 PM. Cost: $10. Homeschool science field trips are designed to provide a fun learning environment for home schooled science requirements. To learn more or to register, check out their website.
Four 2 hour field trips during each of the fall, winter and spring seasons combine inside instruction with outdoor, hands on interactive activities and outdoor explorations. These programs integrate scientific inquiry with math, geography, history and the arts. Skills based activities focus on observation, estimation, classification, and discrimination.
The typical program includes an instructional introduction using live animals, followed by interactive and outdoor activities(weather permitting), crafts and games.
Because of the need to prepare materials in advance, this is not a drop in program. Students may be pre-enrolled, or call to reserve a spot up from 1 to 7 days in advance.

The KC Zoo offers a series of science classes for homeschoolers who are members of Friends of the Zoo (FOTZ) called “When Science Attacks!” Contact the KC Zoo at 816-595-1765 to register.
LEARN Science and Math Club
Learn Science & Math Club is a cooperative, not-for-profit learning club based in Kansas City, MO. Our mission is to provide kids with rich science and math experiences.
Kids who play more, learn more; so, we make fun a part of everything we do. And, we do a lot! From August through February, we study engineering and physics by competing in the international FIRST Tech Challenge, the FIRST LEGO League and the Junior FIRST LEGO League. From Febuary to May, we conduct chemistry experiments, build all sorts of wacky machines, participate in science fairs, watch the stars, go on archaeology digs and much more.
FREE coding classes for kids ages 7-17 held on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9am-12pm at the Google Fiber Space at 43rd and State Line. The classes are sponsored by Google, KC Women in Technology and other companies.
Note: Parents must stay in class with students 13 and under.
All students must bring a WiFi enabled laptop.

Kemper Museum Homeschool Programs
Make the Kemper Museum a part of your homeschool routine. This FREE, drop-in event is open to the homeschool community. The themes of each program change from month to month and take place in the Museum’s galleries, and are designed to be an interactive experience that encourages students to examine objects and ideas through observation, discussion and activities. Art-making runs from 1pm-2pm, and the docent-led tour begins at 2pm. Programs are drop-in with no registration required.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum spring homeschool day is Thursday, April 14, 2016, 10am-2pm.

Red Star Studios Open Studio for Homeschoolers
Red Star Studios at 2100 Walnut, KCMO is offering an open studio for homeschoolers on the fourth Friday of each month from 10am-12pm.
These classes are for students ages 7 and older who want to learn basic handbuilding and wheel throwing skills and glazing techniques while working independently in a supportive atmosphere with others. Students will be encouraged to explore their own ideas for functional and sculptural work while learning about the possibilities of clay. Tuition of $25/student includes all materials.

CoCo Key Home School Swim Days

Shugosha Martial Science Homeschool Class
Shugosha Martial Science offers classes on Mondays. Spring session begins on Monday, January 11, 2016. Registration to be held from 1:30 – 2pm, with orientation class to follow 2 – 2:45.
After orientation week, classes for new students are at 1:15pm. Classes for students who attended the fall session will be at 2pm.
New students will begin with an orientation class, then a four week Secure Kids Safety Awareness program, teaching kids basic but valuable self defense skills. After the first 4 weeks, students who would like to may continue training at the same day/time each week in the Home School Shindo Jitsu karate class. Classes are open for kids aged 5 and up, and parents are welcome to join the class!
The registration fee is $10, which covers insurance and a Shugosha tee shirt. The cost for the four week class is $8 per student per class. Following the first four weeks, the karate classes will also be $8 each week. To register or to learn more, click here.
ASL Classes for Homeschoolers
This class is designed for students who have a very basic working knowledge of ASL vocabulary and language structure. We will build on our vocabulary, learn more complex language features, and continue to incorporate cultural aspects of ASL as well.
Time: Fridays (January 15 – April 29 – no class on 3/18) 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Place: Lackman Library Large Study Room, Lenexa

Home School Band of Kansas City was started as a way to bring home schooled children together in a group band setting. Although home school students can easily take one on one lessons, there is a certain experience playing in a group that can’t be matched with private instruction. REW Music Homeschool Band
REW Music of Olathe offers homeschool classes in Band, Orchestra, Jazz and Guitar at their Olathe location. The directors, Bob and Jacki Woeppel, have been working with students for over 35 years to bring the rewarding world of music to life. They believe that God gave us all the ability to praise him through music in one way or another. What better way than to make a joyful sound through instruments while fellowshipping with others. Thinking outside the box, the Woeppels have been able to get the students to feel and enjoy the process of making music while achieving top marks at state contests and festivals. This Homeschool Band and Orchestra will be full of energy, excitement and employ techniques that will allow the students to succeed and have fun learning the valuable art of making music. Homeschool Arts KC
Homeschool Arts KC offers a comprehensive fine arts program designed especially for secular homeschoolers. We teach courses in art, music, and theater for all ages: Pre-Kindergarten through 12th Grade. Small class sizes allow teachers to give individual feedback and support your child’s learning at home. Homeschool Arts KC is an outreach ministry of Overland Park Christian Church at 75th and Conser Streets. Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day.
