Picasso Faces and Masks at Nelson-Atkins

This week we explored the newest exhibit at Nelson-Atkins Museum, Through the Eyes of Picasso, then made our own masks in the Picasso Faces and Masks workshop in the educator center.

Our morning at the museum began with a tour of the exhibit and a discussion of how Picasso based his work on real people and places, but used his artistic vision to change them around using different colors and geometric shapes. Once the kids were back in the classrooms, they had the chance to be an artist like Picasso and make their own masks using a variety of materials.
